George: How do not fuck up during dealing with Affiliate Marketing?


Marichka: Great question. I have a couple of points to answer on that. First, choose the platform right. Pick the one, that allows you to automate all the basic things as much as possible: terms, payments, invoices, events, checks, fraud, etc.

The second would be to choose the right commission scheme, that allows you to make sure that this is quality traffic. For us, that is, for instance, a revenue share. And another thing that's really helped us there was sending events to the platform not based on the pixel or your MMP data, but straight through Server-to-Server (S2S) from the backhand which just allows us to make sure that those events are deduplicated and correct. And at the same time, we also can send refunds so that allows us not to worry about any either fraudulent purchases or any cancellations as we know that is removed from the pricing already. And then another thing is when you are working with multiple platforms or networks, make sure that you do your attribution first before you send the data and have some rules around that. Because if yeah, in case of duplicated affiliates in some, in different networks it just makes sense to avoid those double costs.

And I think the final cheesy one is to make sure to communicate with your affiliates. We did not do that well enough. And then when we started sharing with them how to promote our product, what to talk about, what's new about the content, the features, we saw so much increase in communications and just better quality. And I think that also goes a long way for us.
