Start in the dirt. There are keywords out there that nobody's focused on. And if you focus on those keywords and get on them ranked high, you quickly build a successful business.
Do a lot of keyword research, find the right keywords that your competitor apps are ignoring, and get on them in the high rankings. Get incremental downloads which will convert in revenue.
The key to success lies in understanding the maths formula of downloads, conversion rate, and the app's average LTV (Lifetime Value) or subscription model. By following this approach and living in the "dirt" of untapped keywords, the app can achieve significant revenue growth.
George: I have one question to you. How do become successful in mobile industry if you have an app?
Steve: Yeah. You’re just starting. Here's what I would suggest, starting in the dirt. Okay, here's what I mean: most people start in the clouds, George. You’ve just launched the meditation app. We have a title: meditation. I live in the dirt: go after “deep breathing”, “pace breathing” etc… There are keywords out there that nobody's focused on. And if you focus on those keywords, then gotta be number one for them. But if you get them to be number one, you quickly build a successful business.
We've done it, we've done it with clients and I just believe in that model. Look, what you got: you raised the money and you got millions of spend on user acquisition. If you want to rely purely just on organic downloads as they live in the dirt, do a lot of keyword research, find the right keywords that these big guys and these newer guys are ignoring. Get them in the high rankings. Just the maths quiz, George. All you need 100 dollars a day. That's what we've got. 100 dollars a day, 8’000-10’000 dollars revenue. It's magic. So that's all you got to do.
It's the downloads, conversion rate, your average LTV or yearly subscription, monthly subscription, whatever you got, just a simple maths formula. Once you break it down those little turns. That's why I’m saying: live in the dirt, find the right keywords.
George: So you are talking about finding a niche, which is not occupied by other competitors.
Steve: Yeah, you can call it niche.
George: Yeah, find a niche and move forward to develop something new and/or move forward within this direction that is not taken yet, right?
